PJ Gaynard: Film Educator
PJ Gaynard has been working as a film educator since 2014. His passion has spun from teaching assistants on set to creation of a fully accredited college film technician program.
He has also developed a speciality in community based filmmaking, having lead and participated in four uniquely diverse productions. These four productions focussed on developing a communities voice and giving their members a chance to learn through the filmmaking process. Below is some info on each position/project.
The Community College of Allegheny County’s Film Technician Program
PJ Gaynard built this program, was the lead and only full time film professor, and was the program coordinator from it’s inception in the fall of 2016 - the spring of 2020.
Developed eighteen courses, a certificate, and a two year associates degree through accreditation process
Taught the following courses: Production One, Cinematography One, Production Management, Introduction to Cinema, Production Design, Grip and Electric One, Navigating the Film Industry, and The Film Culminating Experience,
Mentored adjunct professors
Researched and managed $500,000 in equipment purchases
Managed renovation for the program of an entire wing of a building
Managed social media for the program

PJ Gaynard taught the following courses from the fall of 2015 - late winter of 2017: Directing, Cinematography 1, Lighting for Film, Guest taught for project specific films.
New York Film Academy, Los Angeles - MFA in Cinematography Program
Worked as a guest Director and Cinematography proctor from 2014-2015.
